Funding the Bureau

Core Funding

Citizens' Advice Bureaux are independent charities who receive no Government funding. Bureaux apply year by year to their local authorities for grant funding to meet the core running costs of the bureau.
In the year ending March 2007 it cost approximately £125,000 to run the Chichester Bureau.

Funding comes from many sources and the Bureau is grateful to Chichester District Council and West Sussex County Council for their contribution to our budget each year. We also receive grants from the West Sussex NHS Primary Care Trust, Chichester City Council, Midhurst Town Council, Selsey Town Council, and the 41 parish councils that comprise the rest of the District Council area.

Whilst we rely on the above for our core funding, we could not carry on without the contributions that we receive from private donors, grateful clients, local and national charitable trusts, other local groups, and our own generous group of Friends who annually make contributions to the Bureau.

Residents' Appeal

In November 2005, for the first time in its history, the Bureau decided to launch an appeal for funds directed at local residents. In a climate of real or threatened funding cuts, it was felt that the Bureau must make efforts to become more financially self-sufficient. The income thus raised would be used to pay the salary of a much-needed administration assistant. This appeal, which is on-going, has successfully met this first target and the Bureau has benefited by being able to employ a part-time administration worker.

Donations

If you would like to help the work of the Bureau financially you can make a one-off donation, either in cash or by cheque made payable to "Chichester & District CAB", or use one of the forms as detailed below.

If you are an Income Taxpayer you can use our Gift Aid form (which allows charities to reclaim tax from HM Revenue & Customs with no adverse consequences for the donor), which may either be downloaded in MS. Word format or printed directly from the webpage. Alternatively, you may wish to contribute to our work on a regular basis by banker's Standing Order, in which case the relevant form may as above either be downloaded as a Word document or printed as a webpage.

Fuller details of our accounts are given in our Annual Report; please contact the Bureau if you would like to be sent a copy.
